You bet! I build and design robots. My name is DJ Sures and I am one of the few Canadian Roboticist! :)

I am very passionate about robotics. I believe robots have a place in our lives and homes for a variety of tasks, ranging from interactive companionship as pets (for the uber geeks), to security and entertainment. I've extended my passion by starting the EZ Robot Project to help everyone create robots of their own. It may seem like science fiction, but the robots built by myself and others within the EZ-Robot Community are very advanced.

These robots are built with my EZ-B Robot Controller Project. Click here to find out more about it. I have been actively building robots or electronic devices throughout my life. My passion for robotics and artificial intelligence has always been a high priority.

AR Drone Parrot

I connected the AR Drone Parrot to EZ-Builder and have it chase a red ball around the room. This adds many great new features to an already awesome AR Drone Flying Robot!

Robot Head

With an animatronic robot head, I created a new feature for EZ-Builder. This robot was used as a platform for the Relative Servo Tracking Camera Control option.

Omnibot 2000 - Personal Robot

My other robots are cute and fun... But I needed something larger and smart. So, I created this! It has all of the features you would expect a home Personal Robot to have.

Scarab Robot

This was a toy called the Scarab. I modified it by fitting the shell with an EZ-B, an ultrasonic distance sensor, sweeping servo, new leds, voice recognition, remote control and autonomous exploring mode.

iRobot Roomba Hack

I modified an iRobot Roomba to be wirelessly controlled with the EZ-B Bluetooth Robot Controller. I also added a webcam and voice recognition! This is all done by soldering only two wires from an old PS2 Mouse or Keyboard.

Hacked Tomy Omnibot

Anyone from the 80's will remember this god-of-robots. The Tomy Omnibot was the robot buddy every kid wanted. It was programmable with a casette player! Well, in my version the casette player and its internals have been removed. My hacked version contains servos for arms and rotating head. As well as voice recognition, voice synthesis, visual object/color recognition, full autonomous exploring, motion tracking and more!

Bluetooth Teddy Ruxpin Robot Version 1

This was a toy that I purchased from eBay. The toy was broken, so I didn't feel bad modifying it. I fitted the shell with servos and my EZ-B Bluetooth Robot Controller. The software is the EZ-Builder. This is version 1, I have plans for another version when I get more time.

Bluetooth Master Blaster Robot

I found this robot in china town. It is plastic and meant to resemble the 1980's retro robots. I modified the shell to fit servos and the EZ-B board. It does not have distance sensors or any autonomous, but it is remote control and fun!

Bluetooth Tamiya Bulldozer Servo Robot

This was a simple and quick robot that I assembled to demonstrate my EZ-Builder software package and the servo modification to a Tamiya Bulldozer kit. Normally the bulldozer kit is powered by 2 DC motors, but they suck. Servos are the way to go. Also, this is a fantastic platform to expirementing with my EZ-Builder application.

This robot uses a new module that can respond to voice commands. It also contains voice synthesis for generating Text To Speech.

K-9... my autonomous robot pet

inspired off the 1980's Doctor Who K-9, he is my autonomous house hold pet. built with styrene, a few servos and a microcontroller.
this K-9 won 1st place in the 2008 trossen robotic awards with my 3-d environment codebase and reactive artificial intellegence.

Wall-E... "what the disney toy should have been"

this Wall-E was originally a static childrens toy made by disney. I removed the single motor gearset that animated the arms and head. I modified the frame, replaced his insides with servos, added a microcontroller and a few sensors... voila, a real interactive autonomous Wall-E :)

autonomous Cookie Monster "fuzzy!"

I wanted to make something different for this robot. my robots are always somewhat cute (so I hear), and I accept that ;) . my goal has always been robots as pets demonstrating reactive artificial intellegence. Cookie Monster was surely an interesting choice, but it's pretty fun to see animated!

Bluetooth Controlled Wall-E Robot

This robot was built for a demonstration of my EZ-B Board. The robot was originally a plastic shell that I hacked with servos to be remote controlled over a bluetooth connection.

Borg Head

This isn't entirely a robot, but turned me into one. It uses autonomous programming though! The head peice has a Sharp IR Distance Sensor that focus' a laser on objects that are directly in front of me. If no objects (people) are in range, the laser randomly sweeps while flashing lights. It sure got a lot of attention on halloween night!

EZ-B Robot Project Board

This is the physical hardware circuit (or brain) for some of my robots. It is my own pcb design that involves a Microcontroller, Bluetooth, Visual Studio .Net and widgets. Clicking on this link will bring you to the EZ-Robot website that sells the EZ-B Board and hosts other projects. The user SDK is a Visual Studio .Net C# Library, and the Microcontroller code is Assembly and C.

Synthia - artificial intelligence

Synthia is my communicative aritificial intellegence module that I have ported from my latest robot build. this online version learns from user input. I put Synthia public to learn for my current robot build. the knowledge that Synthia learns will be implemented in the a.i. module of my latest robot's speech ability.

my 2d/3d environmental mapping code

my robots are built off my evolving codebase that utilizing a 2d or 3d array of it's environment to produce behavioral artificial intellegence responses and decisions. here is a brief writeup on the codebase.
