Rebuilding, restoring and reliability
A couple issues when buying a used car, specifically a modified used car; is that the original owner is very passionate and confident of their work. Which does not indicate quality, like the case of this merkur. This car was abused by it's previous owner and has required lots of attention...
- new motor (old had burnt valve and 2 pistons suffered severe detonation)
- electrical shorts in wiring for radio, headlights, gauges, signal lights, etc
- computer sensors (vane air meter, o2) wires were modifed and cut
- dangerous fuel leak in harness at fuel rail
- had open holes in intake from egr
- distributor was loose and would rotate randomly
- and lots more....
