I wanted a fountain for my back deck. I thought of making a fixture, but then decided it would be nice to make one that could move inside the house during the winter.
Purchased a fiberglass pot from Home Depot, a 120v water pump, a peice of pipe, some paints and silicon.
I had an blue painted wooden pedestal that I had been meaning to paint black. So I purchased some black paint and sanded the surface down and washed it.
1) Used Plumbers Super Goop on the pump attachment to a peice of ABS pipe. To ensure it stayed flush, I dabbed the ends with Krazy Glue to temporarily hold it in place over night until the Goop dried. I taped it upright to stay over night.
2) Painted the inside of the pot a dark blue color. I will be adding a bit of food coloring to the water, so the blue will bring out the water a bit more.
3) I cut holes in a large plastic plate with a dremmel. I then used Goop around the holes and layed in some screen. This will act as a shelf for the rocks and give space for the pump.
4) Cut a hole in the center of the plate that is the same that fits the pipe from the pump through snug.
5) Paint the outside of the pot a dark grey color.
6) To fit the power, i cut the wire and pushed it through a peice of pipe. I then filled the pipe with Goop. Drill a snug hole for the pipe to fit through at the bottom of the pot. Seal the pipe with JBWeld and make sure it doesn't move
7) Reconnected the wires
