2010-03-20 Calgary Svt Focus New Aem Air Fuel Gauge
Neko (My Turbocharged SVT Focus) had a Western Motorsports Air Fuel gauge, until today. The WMS AFR Gauge was great and did a good job. But now that the product has been discontinued, I decided to install the AEM Air Fuel Gauge.
It has AFR datalogging via 9600 serial connection. But it does not have RPM datalogging like the WMS does. The guage seems to respond quickly and looks pretty accurate from what I remember the WMS to be.
Sadly, I'm having some fueling problems with the SVT. Last week I changed the fuel filter, expecting that to be it... Sure enough, the fuel pouring out of the filter was brown. But it wasn't the fueling issue.
My fuel pressure seems to be holding at 40 psi, which i beleive is normal.. So I think that rules out the fuel pump. I'll have to take a stock SVT Focus for a drive and see what the fuel pressure is to compare.
I am now suspecting dirty injectors. I took them out and sprayed them, but I doubt that does anything. I think I may have to use one of those injector cleaning services.... Or, purchase new injectors
I also did a compression test, just to make sure I didn't have any valve issues. I was impressed to see the 110 psi across all 4 cylinders! I've had this 360 HP Turbocharged engine running for exactly 2 years now, and it's showing no signs of wear! I'm so happy.
