So I have been using Microsoft's Media Center for many years. Playing AVI, MPG and DVD's hasn't been a problem. But due to HDTV's BluRay, there is a new video container named MKV.
Windows Media Center requires a bit of tweaking to recognize MKV files. In fact, I've only succeeded in getting it to work once. I use CoreAVC and FFDShow as my Codec's.
So since Microsoft's Media Center was sucking, I decided to write my own. And this is my result...
- A nearly complete Windows Media Center replacement - Written in C# & DirectX - Uses Microsoft's Remote Control - Configuration Program gives plenty of customization including FileTypes and Folders. - Folders for each media - Local weather is updated on user defined schedule - Uses any codec's installed that work with Media Player - Optimized for 720p, 1080i and 1080p resolutions - Built in web browsing with MCE Remote Control
