2007-04-20 Calgary K@ Progress

A few friends have been inquiring about the status of my K-@ i've been building . Well i don't know how impressed you can be with a pictures of sensors still in bags and a chip on a test board.

Well here's the scoop . As it stands, the code is 75% complete .

The components used so far are...
- 20 MHZ Pic 16F877a (main brain)
- 4 MHZ Pic 12F683 (USART to RS-232 convertor)
- 3 IR receivers (left, center, right)
- 4 Audio microphones (one on each corner)
- 3 IR Distance sensors
- 1 7 wire led display for current mode
- 1 DB9 connector to monitor and program from the laptop

I have designed a macro scripting language that resides in eePROM on the chip . The commands are quite simply Forward Stop Left Right. The sensors are used to avoid detection of objects (walls, chairs, etc) so it doesn't drive into things. The IR receivers will follow IR signals when it detects one.

I have the entire circuit working on the test board for now. Until I am comfortable with the configuration. Which i figure may be sometime this week. Not really much left to do.

So far she drives around and can detect motion and objects, walls, etc.
