2007-01-09 Calgary House Heater Broke
Well how ironic is this....
My XR4TI's blower motor started acting up and making noises. Yesterday it pooped the bed. Totally stopped working. What does that mean? It meant NO heat for me in my winter car. Fortenatly it was +8C. I drove to my neighboorhood Merkur supplier and he gave me his last working blow motor. So I put it in the car and i've been happy with heat.
Well this is where the story gets funny, because today I come home to a freezing cold house. WTF?! OMG!!!11one .. The blower fan in my house heater decided to crap the bed now!
GRRRRRRRrrrrrrrrrrrrr Some unknown powerful force does not want me to have heat!
So here's the story. Tonight i learned everything i know about heaters and how the electrical system works. Obviously not entirely complicated, but definetly annoying. The fan wasn't spinning. So i took it all apart after verifying the fan had power to it. That's when i noticed it was pretty well stuck and didn't turn manually very well. I hit it, and a shitload of dust and debry came out. Like, tonnes!!! You can see in the pick of the floor how much debry came out.
Then i oiled the sucker. Let span it by hand a few times. Continued to beat out more dirt and dust. Eventually that sucker started loosening up.
Now it blows more air then it ever did! I have no idea when the last time that motor saw a drop of oil, but it sure is happy now!
BTW, I only ended up with one spare part.. A screw! Wanna screw?
