2006-11-20 Calgary What I Prevent
I gotta admit, I'm getting really bothered with being called in for disaster recovery on a derailed project by my clients. An effect of moving the work internally to save a few dollars.
Not to say that anyone is a bad programmer. Becuase getting the job done for cheap is really all that matters to most employers...
Until the dreadful happens, something that seemed so far fetched. There is seldomly a target demographic for hacking victims. Most hacks are random scripted attacks to exploit various programming methods or existing vulnerabilities.
Being a programmer is one thing, doing it securely is another.
This is where I have always taken pride in my work by preventing hacks like this from happening. Sure i cost a little more, but it sure saves you the humiliation when it happens. Application security is a price that most companies will learn the importance of. It is an investment like the locks on your doors and the alarms in your buildings.
