2005-12-13 Calgary Media Center Pvr
This is my PVR setup in my living room. It's not a very fast computer but it does the job. I beleive it's an AMD 1.8ghz and has 1 gb of ram and a 250 gb harddrive. But what's really important is the PVR hardware and Windows Media Center operating system. It uses a Hauppauge mce250 capture card with a BFG 128mb HDTV 6600 video card running at 780p via component video. And all controlled via a Microsoft Media Remote.
On a side note, it's interesting how little I care about what hardware specs my computers are. I grew up with the Apple ][, 286, 386, and the pentium 75 respectively. I'm just happy to not have to use those old slow processors anymore! And I don't know if anyone else has noticed but our interaction with hardware lessens with every operating system update. Anyone remember set BLASTER=A220 I7 D1? And himem.sys, emm386.exe or even qemm386.sys?
I should expain the pictures of the repair solder job i did. The stupid connector that game with the BFG6600 broke off causing me to have to take it apart and fix it.
