2005-12-09 Calgary Xr4ti Dumping Oil
The day after our christmas party at Symantec I was driving to work. If I would have enjoyed the party then I would have
stuck around long enough to know that nobody was going the next day. So I'm driving about 4 blocks from my office and
*POOF* a huge puff of oil smoke from under the hood.
Argh, I love this car a lot and have always wanted an XR4Ti since I was a kid. But because it is a 1985 vehicle, things
break. And in this particular case the part that broke had been moved from the old motor so I can't blame it.
The oil line feeding the turbo split and I had to get a tow home. To find the split I had to start the car and snap
photos with my camera due to the inaccessable location of the pipe. I found the split, removed the hose and replaced it
with a fuel injection hose that can support the oil pressure of approx 65 psi.
Thank your god for chinooks becuase it was a beautiful day to work on my car
